Tsunami Memorial Sculpture

Tsunami Memorial Sculpture

Designed by Swedish artist named Lars Inge Lund. Created as a memorial for tsunami disaster.

Phang Nga had the most severely damaged by tsunami on December 26, 2004, and Office of Contemporary Art and Culture Ministry of Culture built Tsunami Memorial to be a reminder for that disaster. The sculpture is remarkable since it was designed by Swedish artist named Lars Inge Lund, who is famous for minimalist style. This artist is known for national and international and has exhibition in Venice, Paris, New York and Sweden. This sculpture means something that is stable, strong, and united. It is an abstract geometric sculpture created by using 5 straight stainless steel materials that have matte surface and scraping together in to work piece. It is about 6 meters hight, soaring into the sky or above the universe. The artist wanted the audiences to interpret the meaning by themselves since he once said that audiences can only access to his imagination in his work via mind.
